Cyprus Health Tourism Council President Dr. Ahmet Savaşan, in his message published on the occasion of September 1st World Peace Day, stated that the events we are experiencing these days have once again proved to humanity the value of peace, health and tourism, and reminded that the problems experienced can be overcome with reasonable approaches that protect the rights of everyone.

Cyprus Health Tourism Council President Ahmet Savaşan, “The escalating and inevitably dangerous tension in the Eastern Mediterranean in recent months, ignoring the rights of Turkey and the Turkish Cypriot People, has once again reminded us of the destructiveness of war.”

“Tourism means peace and friendship. For tourism to be possible, it is inevitable to ensure peace and security in our region. Peace and cooperation are also needed to defeat the Covid-19 virus and regain our health. The importance of peace, health and tourism for humanity has once again become evident with the Covid-19 outbreak and the tension in the Eastern Mediterranean.”. 

ERDOGAN EMPHASIZES THAT WE DO NOT COVET ANYONE'S RIGHTS

“As members of a nation that follows in the footsteps of a leader who famously said ‘peace at home, peace in the world’, we are determined to do what is necessary to ensure peace in our region,” Savaşan said, adding that “as a matter of fact, Turkish President Erdogan has frequently reiterated that we have no eyes on the rights of anyone else and that we are only after our own rights. We call on all relevant parties, especially Greece, to heed the voice of President Erdoğan and bring the tension in the seas of the region to a reasonable conclusion.”. 

RUM MUST STOP IGNORING OUR RIGHTS

Calling on the Greek Cypriot People, with whom we share the island, to stop ignoring the Turkish Cypriot People Ahmet Savaşan, The Greek Cypriot Administration of Southern Cyprus to contribute to a reasonable settlement of the Cyprus problem.

WE HOPE TO LEAVE OUR CHILDREN A FUTURE OF PEACE

At the end of his message, Savaşan said, “We celebrate the World Peace Day on September 1 with the hope that it will be instrumental in ending the blood and tears flowing on the world where there is no pain, war, love and peace prevail, where war and terrorist incidents do not occur, and we hope that we can leave a better future where permanent peace prevails to our children, whom we see as our future.”.
